Striving often has a hidden story

Striving is not always obvious. Sometimes it looks like ambition, responsibility, excellence, or care for others. These can be good things. The problem is not effort itself. Jesus did not call us to laziness or indifference. The problem is the hidden story underneath our effort.

You may be working hard because you genuinely care. Or you may be working hard because you are afraid of what will happen if you stop. You may be serving someone freely. Or you may be hoping they will finally notice your value. You may be planning wisely. Or you may be trying to control a future that belongs to God.
